Dr. Petra Hirtler

Specialist in general medicine and aesthetic medicine

During my schooldays in grammar school I was complementarily trained as goldsmiths. Already back then I was fascinated by art, the possibility to express through art and make visible what’s contained inside. Art needs a body in order to be able to take shape and form and the body is a wonderful work of art in itself - so the body and art are inseparable from each other and are closely connected. After my school days I studied medicine in Graz and then went to Carinthia to do my general practitioner training in Klagenfurt and Villach. The fascination of aesthetics and handicrafts have never let me go and so as a general practitioner I specialized in aesthetic treatments and very soon afterwards in tattoos - the treatment of related complications and their removal and cover-up preparation.

In this field I was able to gain many years of experience and expertise with well-known doctors and at renowned clinics such as the Schwarzl Clinic, the Kiprov Private Clinic and the Tattoo Clinic of the Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen.

For me, tattoos are an expression of contemporary art on the largest and most diverse human organ - so for me they combine two of my passions: medicine and art!
