Procedure

Foot care, also called pedicure (from the Latin pes, pedis = the foot), mainly involves shortening the toenails, removing callus from the feet and often also offering cosmetic services such as nail polish.
In contrast, podological or medical foot care deals with the treatment of diseases of the feet such as corns or nail fungus. The pedicurists work under strict hygiene conditions and the treatment is also suitable for diabetics or other high-risk patients.

Questions on foot care

Why would you consult a pedicurist?

Many foot problems can be remedied by a specially trained professional: Nails are expertly shortened, calluses removed, pressure points and corns treated. The often dry skin on the foot also receives moisturising care, a massage relaxes and relieves pain. Especially in cases of circulatory disorders or diabetes, the feet should always be treated with the utmost care.

Can you go to a pedicurist with nail fungus?

Nail fungus should be treated as early as possible. An important part of this is medical treatment by a doctor, which should be done first. The diseased nail material must also be gently removed so that other nails are not infected. A gentle, side-effect-free further treatment is possible with the so-called Nd:Yag laser. If you have nail fungus, please come to our practice, we will be happy to advise and treat you.

Do you offer nail braces?

A successful treatment method for ingrown and curled toenails is nail correction with a brace. Our chiropody colleagues have received extra training for 3TO brace technique. This offers a possibility to treat ingrown nails gently.

Do you also treat diabetic feet?

Some of our pedicurists have a lot of experience in treating diabetic feet. We ask you to mention that you need diabetic foot care when making your appointment.

How often should one go to a pedicure?

You should wash your feet daily and dry them well after washing, also in the spaces between the toes, and massage in a foot care cream afterwards. Many patients go to a podiatrist about every 3 weeks. This is only a guideline, as every patient has different basic requirements.
